Badly Drawn Son (b. October 2, 1970) is an independent singer/songwriter, born Damon Gough in Manchester, England. Gough chose his stage title from either the character that appeared in the cartoon show Jamie and his Magic Torch, which he saw on TV at the person within Trafford, Manchester in 1995. Prior to he thought of applying this title he mass produced a bit of 'business cards', each of these unique, using the printed picture of the drawing by his nephew, & the little collage by Gough. This was so laminated & given bent friends and population at clubs in Blackburn and Manchester. A Twisted Nerve empire was late spawned fallowing the risk meeting by having Andy Votel at the Gen x bar in Manchester. His friends Scott Abraham & Damon Hayhurst were contributing to an exhibition held per Space Monkey Clothing Company at a bar & Votel was DJing that evening. Their number 1 seven-inch single, EP1, was pressed about a year late to critical acclaim, although only Five hundred copies were mass produced.
Inside 2002, Q magazine named Badly Drawn Boy in their list of the "50 Bands To See Before You Die", although this was as part of a sub-list of "5 Bands That Could Go Either Way".
Albums
His 2000 album The Hour of Bewilderbeast won a prestigious Mercury Prize. He likewise composed a soundtrack to the movie About A Boy (starring Hugh Grant), based on a Nick Hornby book of the same title. His third album, Have You Fed The Fish?, was released inside 2002. One Plus One Is One, his fourth album, was discharged within 2004.
Biography
In January 31, 2001, Gough bought his own hat at an auction, raising £1,500 for a Kosovan children's charity.
Gough occurs as self-confessed Bruce Springsteen fan.
